Senior Dynamics 365 Functional Consultant

Covenant Technology Partners provides custom business applications and systems for a wide range of clients using Microsoft’s Dynamics 365. The ideal candidate will be able to work on their own or as part of a team. The candidate should have an excellent understanding of working in a remote environment and working with diverse teams. Candidate must have a strong desire to learn new technologies.

Job Description

This is a central position to our solution offering. The successful candidate should have experience working with Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 and/or D365 Finance and Operations. An understanding of customizations and configurations within Dynamics 365 and Dynamics 365 capabilities to identify operational and strategic needs and translate those into D365 business requirements. This person will be responsible for interacting with key stakeholders leading requirements gathering, consolidating requirements, documentation, and customization and configuration of Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations. 

Understanding of Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations functionality provided out of the box is a key requirement for a Functional Consultant. This position requires hands on experience with Dynamics 365, with the ability to configure and build the client’s solution using basic customizations and configurations. 


  • Familiar with Dynamics AX and Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations

  • Business Analysis

    • Meet with key business stakeholders and discuss their organization

    • Plan and facilitate requirements gathering

    • Strong writing skills, ability to produce high quality requirements documents

    • Perform gap analysis between current process and Dynamics 365

  • Consolidating requirements

  • Documentation: Solution Design, Functional Requirements, Business Architecture, Test Plans, Test Scripts, User Guides, Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERD), Business Process flow diagrams

  • Setting up Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, working knowledge of LCS

  • Architecting a solution

    • Data Modeling and generating the ERD

    • Identify potential solutions to meet requirements

  • Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations Customization and Configurations

    • Strong knowledge of available configurations and ability to guide clients to correct configuration decisions

    • Business Logic: Business Process Flows, Business Rules, and Workflow

    • System Views, Charts, and Dashboards

    • Security Model: Business Units, Security Roles, Teams, Access Teams, Field Level Security

    • System Settings

  • Understanding of extending D365

    • Service Side Automation

    • Client-Side Automation

    • PowerApps

    • Flow

    • PowerBI

  • Reporting

    • Out of the box Charts and Reports

    • Views

    • Word and Excel Templates

  • Understanding of Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations integration methods (Scribe, SSIS, Web services, etc.).

  • 3+ years of MS Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations experience

  • 3+ years of Business Analysis, consolidating requirements, and Documentation

  • 3+ years’ experience in customizing and configuring Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations

  • 3+ years’ experience with extending D365

  • 1+ years architecting solutions

  • 1+ years reporting

  • Excellent interpersonal, facilitation, oral and written communication skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Intermediate experience with word processing, spread sheet, database, reporting and flowcharting applications.

Minimun Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills between both the customer and all levels within the organization are required.

  • Ambitious, and self-motivated team player who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with a desire to continue to learn new and market leading technologies.

  • Must be willing to learn Microsoft Technologies.

  • Willing to become certified in Microsoft related field.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer and Information Technology or related field

  • Equivalent work history in Technical field also accepted

  • Certification in Microsoft products a plus

Desirable Skills

  • Preference given to candidates with a proven track record in professional services / consulting
