What Is Microsoft 365 Copilot Cowork?

What’s New at General Availability
With the GA release, Microsoft has added several key capabilities:
Multiple models, matched to your work Cowork now leverages multiple AI models and selects the right one based on the task at hand. This means smarter, more efficient results — whether you’re working through a complex analysis or drafting a quick communication.
Enhanced security and compliance capabilities Enterprise security teams can rest easy. The new GA release includes additional security and compliance features designed to meet the needs of organizations with strict data governance requirements.
Partner and Dynamics 365 plugins Cowork now integrates with partner solutions and Dynamics 365, extending its reach beyond the core Microsoft 365 suite. This opens the door to agentic workflows that span your CRM, ERP, and other business-critical systems.
How Licensing Works
Cowork requires a Microsoft 365 Copilot license, with usage billed separately through Copilot Credits. This consumption-based model gives organizations the flexibility to align spend directly to usage — especially valuable as delegated, multi-step agentic work scales across teams.
Admins can manage access, set budgets and alerts, and monitor usage across users, groups, and agents directly from the Cost Management tools in the Microsoft 365 Admin Center.
